Overview of CS2 Competitive Maps
Counter-Strike 2 features multiple maps in competitive rotation. The current competitive pool includes Mirage, Inferno, Nuke, Dust2, Anubis, Vertigo, Ancient, and others. Each map has unique layouts, sightlines, bomb sites, and strategic considerations. Beginners should focus on learning one or two maps thoroughly before expanding to others.
Mirage is often recommended for beginners due to its relatively simple layout and multiple routes to both bomb sites. It has clear sightlines and teaches fundamental positioning. Dust2 is another beginner-friendly map with distinct, easy-to-identify bomb site locations and good rotation routes.
Inferno is more complex with cluttered areas and multiple levels. Nuke is extremely vertical and requires understanding elevation changes. Ancient is mid-difficulty with interesting site architecture. Learn map callouts (names for locations) by playing Casual or watching educational content. Memorizing callouts allows you to communicate effectively with teammates.
Each map has dedicated callouts used by the entire community. For example, on Mirage: A site has areas called Main, Stairs, and Rafters. B site has Market, Apartments, and Palace. Learning these names is essential for team communication and understanding tactical discussions.
